Opacity

Opacity names the structural condition where accumulated third-order carrying has rendered Ground unretraceable from within. Ground is not absent; the dependency chain still runs to it. But the accumulated structure has become the available world for the participant, and Ground is enclosed within it.

Opacity names the point where Invisible Bearing has accumulated past the threshold at which Higher Retrace can enter without disciplined practice. The structure continues to carry. Ground continues to bear it. But the participant cannot reach what bears them from within what they carry.

Places

Opacity places the structural condition where accumulated third-order carrying has rendered Ground unretraceable from within — where the dependency chain still runs to Ground but can no longer be entered from the participant's current position without disciplined practice.

Holds

Opacity is held by Third Order, Nested Carrying, Invisible Bearing, and Ground. Third-order participation must have accumulated, Invisible Bearing must have layered past available Higher Retrace, and Ground must be present but enclosed.

Pairs

Opacity pairs with Higher Order. Opacity names Ground enclosed within accumulated structure; Higher Order names the register available when Practice has retraced through that enclosure back to what has been bearing the structure.

Traces

Nests

Opacity nests within the Higher Order register as the terminal condition that makes Higher Order Crossing structurally necessary — the hinge between accumulated participation and the Practice that can re-establish contact with Ground.

Reads

Opacity becomes readable where accumulated participation has reached a depth from which Ground can no longer be retraced from within: the structure carries the participant more than the participant carries the structure.

The dependency movement:

First: Third Order — participation has accumulated across fields while remaining traceable in principle.

Second: Nested Carrying — each order carries within and through the prior, so the dependency chain reaches back through what has accumulated.

Third: Invisible Bearing — accumulated structure carries participation without presenting itself. Opacity begins where this has accumulated past the threshold at which Higher Retrace can enter it from the participant's current position.

Fourth: Ground — Ground has not disappeared. Opacity is the condition where this remains true and unreachable at once.

Higher Order Crossing names the threshold that becomes structurally necessary when Opacity holds — the entry into disciplined Practice through which the accumulated structure can be retraced back to what has been bearing it. Practice does not create new Ground; it finds what was already there inside the enclosure.

The circuit closes here: Ground bears accumulation; accumulation produces Opacity; Practice retraces Opacity back to Ground; Higher Order names the register where Ground becomes readable within accumulated participation.

Carries

Opacity carries nothing further as a structural source. What follows from Opacity is not a branch but a crossing.
