02 Second Order/Coupling Conditions/Traction

Traction

Traction names grip becoming available for movement. It is the contact condition through which carrying can proceed without slipping away from the support it needs. Traction is not mere connection or low resistance; it names enough resistance to let movement hold.

Trace

Read

Traction becomes recognisable where contact and grip support movement so that carrying can continue through resistance without detaching from support.

Structural Role

Traction is grounded movement through contact. It marks the usable middle between too little resistance, where carrying slips, and too much resistance, where carrying stalls.
