Garden Status
Garden Status names the garden-care state of an Atlas growth: how a placed term, branch, posture, or read is being tended without treating uncertainty as outside the Atlas.
Garden Status does not decide whether a growth is allowed to exist. If a term can be placed and tended, it belongs in the Atlas as living structure. Garden Status names how that living structure is being cared for.
Groundedness remains the root-contact check: whether the growth remains answerable to what holds it. Garden Status is the visible care state around that check.
In note metadata, garden_status may name this care state directly. It should not replace status, grounded, or the note's declared structure; it tells a participant how to tend the growth next.
When no individual garden pass has yet been made, a conservative default may be used: stable notes can be marked rooted, working notes can be marked planted, and active care practices can be marked tending. Later passes may revise these care states without changing whether the note belongs to the Atlas.
Places
Garden Status places the garden-care state of an Atlas growth: how a placed term, branch, posture, or read is being tended without treating uncertainty as outside the Atlas.
Holds
Garden Status is held by Atlas Garden, Garden Pass, and Groundedness. The garden must provide the care frame, a tending pass must locate the growth, and groundedness must remain the root-contact check rather than a public permission badge.
Pairs
Garden Status pairs with approval status. Garden Status names care state; approval status treats placement as permission.
Traces
Nests
Garden Status nests inside Atlas Garden as the care vocabulary for growths that are placed, rooted, tending, shading, grafted, pruned, composting, dormant, or invasive.
The current working statuses are:
planted placed as living structure, still finding its clean carries
rooted dependable enough to support nearby growth, still alive and revisable
tending needs return, checking, spacing, or clearer support
shading obscuring another growth or being obscured by one
grafted reattached to the support it actually traces
pruned reduced so the order can breathe and re-enter
composting released as doctrine while kept as learning
dormant placed but not currently developing
invasive over-carrying beyond support or crowding the root system
Reads
Garden Status becomes recognisable where a term or branch is inside the Atlas and needs its care state named so the Atlas can tend uncertainty through order.
This changes the entry question from "is this final enough to be admitted?" to:
Can this growth be placed?
What holds it?
What care state is it in?
What does it need next?
