Rational

Rational names the quality of a read, action, or continuation that can remain in accountable proportion.

Rational does not mean logical alone. Logic may be one carrier of rationality, but rationality is wider: the continuation must remain answerable to the relation it reads, the reference frame through which it reads, the carrying it performs, and the trace through which it can return.

Where Reasoning gives the retraceable account of ratio, Rational names the condition of remaining proportionate to that account while carrying forward.

Rational is held by Reasoning, Ratio, Reference Frame, Carrying, and Trace. A ratio must be accountably read, the frame must be explicit, carrying must remain answerable, and trace must remain available.

Pairs

Rational pairs with merely logical. A continuation can be formally logical and still fail rationally if it loses relation, hides its reference frame, outruns carrying, or cannot be retraced.

Rational becomes readable where a continuation remains answerable to:

• relation;
• reference frame;
• carrying;
• traceability.

An irrational continuation is not only one that violates logic. It may also be one that loses proportion, changes frame without declaring it, carries beyond what can be borne, or breaks the path by which its reason can be retraced.

Carries

No downstream carry is claimed yet. Rational qualifies a continuation; later practice notes may carry it into a fuller discipline if the relation remains traceable.
